April 2023 Hike: Gator Hook Trail

Our fifth hike was a blast! About 40 hikers came out to Gator Hook Trail in Big Cypress National Preserve for a 5-mile hike through the swamp. Early April is still the dry season in the Everglades, so we had dry feet the whole way through. At other times of the year, Gator Hook Trail can have up to waist-deep water or more at its deepest points. We had a few wildlife sightings, including a small garter snake and an alligator enjoying the very little water available near the trail.
